AtkinsonFixing headspace in a Win. Lever action
The old fix has been turn threads off a barrel and set it back and rechamber..and at about $400.
Jim Wisner sells a block for $50. and my smith installed it for $20. and fixed the headspace to new in my Win mod. 94/64..Total cost $70. that's quit a savings and it works..
The block is the recoil lug that comes up and down in the rear of the bolt its the locking lug, and determines the headspace as opposed to the bolt face I suppose..
I think I will order several of them, lots of nice old 94 can be fixed to new..Wish I had known this back in the day..

3584ELKInteresting- what method is used to secure the block?

dpcdThe block being made and sold by JW is the actual rear locking block; so the dropping lever link holds it. He makes them in .005. .010, and .015 oversize. A thicker locking block would push the bolt forward, thereby decreasing headspace.
I am surprised that they are only $50 though. I doubt he is making any money on them.... He is just doing it for fun.
Anyone can install them though, if you can disassemble a 94.

Bill LeeperThat sounds like a great product. As mentioned, probably not a money-maker though. Regards, Bill

AtkinsonCan a similar fix apply to a bolt action, if so Im not aware of it, most still turn the barrel a few threads and for the most part do some re-enletting of the barrel channel...
