NorsemanModel 700 short action and Model 7
What's the difference between these two action if they both have .223 Remington bolt face diameter?
I am in the process of buying 3 Model 7 actions from Remington due to cosmetic's flaws. I will cerakote anyways.
$225.00 each action, I thought this is a good deal.

sliversBottom metal and trigger are different. So are the scope mounting holes. The two use different stocks, hole spacing is different. They do use the same mag box and follower as the SA700. The 7 is an all round 'shorter' action.

NorsemanThank's for the link and it is same action I am looking as far as blemnised

oakdudeI have a blem model seven. I like it. 8-40 screws mean you need to drill out a base

oakdudeYes.
I would imagine fixing 8-40 would be hard if they are far off
I think the blem is that they are stamped 300 blk and appeared to be on completed rifles

NorsemanIs it possible to sandblast the 300 black engraving off?
You'd need several truckloads of sand. The engraving is pretty deep.

ramrod340Not having seen one in person. Could you not simply have it milled off. Same way some military actions are cleaned up?
As usual just my $.02

I was under the impression you weren't allowed to remove manufacturers marks but enforcement varied. At least that's what the agent told us at a conference. Could be wrong
Too deep to sand blast. You'd need to make a flat cut. No biggie.

Actions have been cleaned up for years. I can see the serial number but the rest of the stamping?
As usual just my $.02

NorsemanI haven't seen a Model 7 300 blackout receiver as well.
Just curious, what does one have to do in order to masked the engraving? weld in the engraving area and then mill it?
What is the average ballpark figure to mill it off and who do you suggest for milling work?

montea6bIf you are planning to Cerakote it wouldn't it be far cheaper and easier to fill the engraving with another type of material and sand it back? I'm thinking some kind of epoxy...

Dans40XCTrigger groups are the same between a Seven & 700-
The bolt release & bolt stop are different between the two.
A 3 screw scope base is interchangeable between a Seven & 700/40X.
A Seven's bolt handle location is 3.850" where a 700 S/A handle's location is 4.375".
You may want to look into a manufacturing license if your Seven is specifically marked 300Blk & you chamber something different.
