Has anyone noticed lately that there is apparently a dimenishing supply of wood screws with straight screwdriver slots available? Everything is Phillips head! I went to 3 hardware stores locally and none of them had woodscrews with straight slots. Ended up ordering some from Kennedy Hardware, a restoration specialist, out in Indiana. If you do any custom work you might consider stocking up when you find some.

Unplated straight slot screws have always been impossible to to find at local outlets.

Companies like Track of the Wolf that cater to traditional gun builders always have them in stock.

I couldn't even find plated screws!
