I'm looking for a gunsmith to reblue my Mark V. Anyone have a person in mind who does good work?

congomikeFirst I would contact the factory and see what they could do. They would be the best at matching the original bluing.
If not, try Fords. They do really nice work, but at times they are very busy and turn around can be lengthy. Best to call them first. Don't know the website off the top of my head, but just do a search on fords firearms refinishing.

FOOBARRun an online search...there are MILLIONS it seems, of custom "coaters". Many will do several grades and types of "standard" bluing. Pick a few and contact them to see if they can match what you want. You might find one, or a gunsmith close enough to your location to go and see their quality and setup.
I know/known several gunsmiths that do excellent work basically in a shed outside their shop and only do small runs at a time...My fav smith does my small stuff usually a couple times a year along with his normal runs, because I have the parts already polished and setup on a wire loop and all he has to do is dunk them in the cleaning tank, then into the bluing tank...I do all my own barrels and receivers and some of his pieces and parts when I do my barrels, in other coatings.
Luck

cessnaramrod340,
I just talked to John on the phone. I will take my Mark V to him when in Albuquerque early next month. Thank you for the heads up. I really appreciate it.

buckeyeshooterToomanytools did a wonderful job on an old winchester 12 in 16ga for me. I am positive you will be happy with his work-- its first rate!
