Re: Model 700 Bottom Metal
Big Sam,
I would have to agree with you. I ordered a m700 bottom metal in stainless from Williams, and it's a really solid piece. My rifle started as the standard LSS 300 RUM left hand. I had added a Jewel trigger, and had it pillar bedded into a McMillan stock. I have not got the whole package put back together, since the barreled action is away at PacNor getting a new tube, but members of 24hourcampfire have told me that aftermarket triggers don't routinely fit with the Williams bottom metal, and that you need an ADL magazine box. I called Matt Williams and he was extremely helpful and accomodating, but I thought I'd just give you that head's up.

BIG SAMI have received the S.S. bottom metal that I ordered from Williams Firearms Co. for my Model 700 .338 Win. Mag that Jim Kobe is building.
An A.R. member had recommended that I look at them when I was looking for this replacement.
The workmanship and appeareance are nothing less than great. The price was $247.50 and comes with a finish that is ready to install. I cannot comment on the fit, as Jim will have to say, if he feels like it.
If you are looking to replace your bottom metal, I recommend that you give them a look.
Cheers,
Sam

<allen day>For a custom Remington 700, I like the commercial Mauser style triggerguard/floorplate assemblies from Sunny Hill Enterprises. In fact, I have a Model 700 action in process now for a custom .280 Rem. that will feature a Sunny Hill unit. This part completely changes the look of the rifle.
