Israeli 308 Mauser Barrel

Hi all,

A pal of mine has a surplus 308 Win military barrel from an Israeli reworked Mauser. Can this barrel be re-chambered to 300 H&H, without setting back the threads, or any other major surgery?

The military Mauser 98 barrel does not have a large enough OD at the chamber area to consider this a safe conversion.
