Paul HSources for take off barrels other than e-bay?
I've been wanting to do some experimental chamberings on a mauser "mule" action, and was looking for sources of cheap take off tubes other than e-bay. It seems that most take offs go for more than they are worth on e-bay.

Paul HReminds me of what a friend said regarding e-bay. When you try and sell something, nobody wants to bid on it. When you try to buy something, everyone runs up the price.

CustomstoxPaul,
You used to be able to find them on Gun List. That paper is not what it used to be, but it might be a source. GunsAmerica also has a listing for barrels.

mousegunTry Sarco.
They had some "lost in the warehouse for years" barrels a while back. Seems like they are always advertising barrels for mausers. If you call them they will tell you what they've got. Dont rely on the Shotgun news advertisements.
I have gotten take off barrels from gunsmiths that do a lot of match rifle work. They cut off the threads/chamber and re-chamber, re-contour, re-thread and lap. Its an excellent way to get a cheap, (or free) Krieger or Obermeyer, you just pay for the machining and barrel install. Most target barrels are replaced before they are truley shot out and cutting a new chamber usually breathes some life back in them, at least good enough for a hunting rig.
Good luck!

SnowwolfeThere are web sites that specialize in selling take off's. Just do a search. I do believe Numrich (spelling) is still in business as well and offers, or at least they used to, a huge selection.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

BlueprintedI have two Rem take offs on brand new223 and a 25-06 that had some heavy use. Both sporters If you can use them they are yours. I was hoping to give them to someone wanting to practice, neede a fireform barrel or experiment. I will not part with them for a rebarrel. Both are servicable just do not want someone to go to the expense and trouble to maybe get a turd.
