?BOYD'S Stocks?
Does anyone have any experience with the Laminated Boyd's stocks for either Remington or Winchester in the "Classic or Sundra styling?

Thanks,

SAM

I can't comment on those two rifles but I have a couple for others. 1 Laminated for a M1 Garand, and a Lam. classic for a M98. I have no beefs about either.

The design of the stock, for what it is, isn't too bad, but the inletting is terrible on everyone that I've tried. I've got a Model 70 JRS Classic for a long action here that the ejection port cutout is out of position by as much as 3/8 of an inch. I've had Remington stocks that the inletting on the bottom was over .250" out of centerline with the rest of the stock. Do yourself a big favor and talk to Mel Smart if you want a top notch laminate. Here's is website.

Acra Bond Stocks

The great part about Mel's stocks is the fact that when you look at it, it looks like a real nice piece of Claro or Bastogne, instead of a laminate. Not to mention, they're a helluva lot stronger, more durable, and lighter than the typical Rutland-style laminate that Boyds is using. Dennis Olson is the guy that's doing the duplicating work for him and he's top of line.
Give him a try, you won't regret it.

I have 3 of the JRS Classics for Rem 700 and completely satisfied them. However, inletting is required, don't buy one unless you are patient, meticulous, and enjoy doing this sort of thing....LR

Recently received a JRS laminate from them for a 98 Mauser and it was the best inletting job I have ever had. Saved a lot of work.
