ForrestBJagdbüchsen - Book Review
Ralf Martini gave me a wonderful book that almost any hunter or custom rifle nut would love to peruse. The only problem (for some of us) is that the book is entirely in German. Fortunately, the pictures are in English.

The book is titled
Jagdbüchsen - und Gedanken zur Jagd and authored by K.D. Fleckenstein. The book was published in 2001 by KILIC Feintechnik GmbH. I would love to have a few more copies to give as gifts; perhaps one of our European members could track down some copies for the rest of us. This book is loaded with beautiful color photos of Mauser bolt rifles, single shots and double rifles. Even if you don't speak German, the book is a must-have in my opinion.
Here is just a small sample of what's in the book (all images copywritten by the publisher):

Thanks for this post, Forrest-
I notice the Peruvians are popular. LOL.
Anyway, most of the news is bad, the usual AR squabbling, and am I the only one that thinks Summer Solstice means the days are starting to get shorter already?
So I was jonesing for some nice rifle images, and these are certainly nice.

N.B. As to finding the book, you might try Dietrich Apel at the German Gun Collectors Association.
I didn't see it on their site, but they may have some leads.
Forrest,
If you get a lead on an extra copy let me know...I am looking for ideas and this looks to be a good source...

Michael PetrovIf I might help, when searching the net for German words you cannot drop the “Umlautâ€.
What you need to look for is.

Thanks for the eye candy. Those are some beautiful works of functional art.
I too would be interested in a copy of this book. Please let me know if a source is located.
One question that you may be able to answer from different photos? What type threads are there on the TD barrels? The receiver looks to be re-cut with square threads. Is there a picture of the barrel shank with rear or bottom of forend?
Thanks
James
Those guys must have taken a trip down to Peru or something.

ForrestBI'm going to contact USBooks.de to find out what kind of deal they might offer us on six books. We should at least get a break on shipping. Send me a note if you are interested in purchasing a copy. As Michael Petrov noted, they will cost about 40 euros plus shipping.

Where does one get an umlaut off this Dell keyboard?
(Amazing how some words/phrases are transferred intact from one language to another!! "K. D. FLECKENSTEIN; deutsch, 134 Seiten,
hard cover."

Try this,
Umlaut : Ctrl+: (ä Ä, ë Ë, ï Ã, ö Ö, ü Ü, ÿ Ÿ)
Here's how to type the umlaut on your keyboard. The umlaut is the double dots over the top of certain letters. To do the umlaut:
(1) Hold down the Ctrl key then press the Colon key(Shift

. [So to clarify this - you will be holding down the Ctrl key, the Shift key and colon key all together at the same time.... i.e you will have 3 keys held at once.]
(2) Release all keys simultaneously.
(3) Type the appropriate letter a, e, i, o, u, y.
If this fails you can always copy and paste them.
Has anyone managed to order this book from
www.usbooks.de yet? I tried their online ordering but haven't seen any confirmation my order has been placed.
I'll probably call them tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone has had success with them already.

ForrestBI'm back in town now and heard back from US Books. The price including shipping for a single copy is US$90. I've inquired again about the price for six copies and I'll let you know what I hear back from them - shipping is half the cost of a single book.

I received my order confirmation from US Books. Not sure if they accept credit cards. The confirmation came with bank account payment details. I need to wire them the money. No big deal from here, but c.c would be easier.

Guy458I'd like to get a copy if still possible.
Those take-down Mausers are exactly what I dream about having made and the pictures display what I don't think I could describe sufficiently myself. Since I'm already in Europe, I will order directly. Thanks for bringing this book to our attention.

333_OKHThe pattern of the stocks and the barrels and sights are just what I am looking for!
I'd give my left nut for that stock pattern...

Been tryin' for 3 years to epoxy one up with so-so results... Has something to do with the ogee curves or the radii of the scallops and flow lines...
Anyone with a lead on a similar stock pattern please chime in...

lawndartWhen buying stuff from my fatherland, I use the bank transfer deal. It works well. You get hosed on credit cards because the banks screw you on the exchange rate.
Don't use a check, either. Big time handling fees.
FWIW, YMMV
LD
Well, even at $90 I am still in for one if a group order is being made.
DeBee
Giving up a left nut for a stock pattern is a pretty big price to pay wouldn't you say??
