How much of a problem is it to have Gold plating removed from a firearms receiver and have it blued? I mean the ENTIRE receiver is gold plated, before I take the plunge I want to ensure I can get it off and make it look right again.

To chemically remove it they usually use cyanide - not for the do it yourselfer !! It is very thin and might be taken off by polishing easy enough.Try in a litle spot.
