michaeljBlanks for gunstocks
Butch made mention of this but the title he has may not get enough hits.
SDH has a new article in Sports Afield reguarding stock blanks very informative and a great read. SA has made a nice come back and is a top quality magazin once again. IMO

Thanks Michael!
The photo examples were a bit on the small side so here they are a bit bigger. First a Joe Smithson .275 Rigby with quarter sawn grain and feather crotch. (A Granite Mt. Mauser action and Joe's proprietary scope mounts. Mark Buchanan's rifle.)
And a Jerry Fisher job to illustrate verticle grain with marbling on a dark background. (An FN Mauser single shot action in .220 Swift with blind bottom metal by Fisher.)
This October issue should be on the news-stands shortly and has several good international big game hunting stories, and a good piece on elk hunting by John Barsness.
