Magnum Hunter11903 Mannlicher price ?
I bought a 1903 Mannlicher/Schoenauer marked Breda 1927 for a custom rifle project that hasn't happened. I think I have realized that I have too many projects going on at once. It has been sporterized,(shortened bbl, Marbles sights, whittled stock, blued). I am wondering what it is worth? It is of course 6.5x54. What other calibers might I use in the rotary magazine other than 6.5? Think I could get 7x57 to feed? Anyone know someone who might need it? Thanks in advance.

LongwalkerI had a 1903 MS, the barrel was shot out. From the limited research that i did the spool magazine will not accept any other standard cartridge, so you must use the original in that rifle. I sold mine rather than be bothered with the re-barrel and feeding it later.

fla3006I paid $325 for this Breda Greek Mannlicher before I sporterized it. Yes, they can be converted to 7x57, "Huntingcat" has done some.

Magnum Hunter1Craigster,
I'll try to post some pics on Sunday or Monday for you. Or if you want to PM me with your email address that would be easier. Thanks.

Bill MeyerI made one in .257 Roberts a couple years ago, never again. Making that magazine feed is like winning the lottery. Best to stay with the origional caliber. Bill

El DeguelloDepends on condition, of course. Most important is bore condition. They will NOT feed a standard Mauser size cartridge-the case head will not enter the magazine spool. The 6.5X54 is a great round. I have heard of some that had a poor bore, so they were rebored to 7mm, retaining the Mannlicher 54mm case/chamber. A doable conversion....

You might make consider the 6.5 Carcano.
The brass and loaded ammo is much more available than the Mannlicher stuff.

Siam_KragI got one in .257 Roberts that my farther got when he purchased a 6.5x54 at gun show. The seller was missing a butt plate on the 0n the 6.5 and had bought the .257 for the butt only. The .257 only holds two down though. My smith laughed when I asked if he could get it to work properly with .257.
