Mr. Hughes

Thank you for posting pictures. It gives me great pleasure to look at great guns like this and the Owen Springfield. These great makers will newer die as long as there is excellent photographic examples of there work available. Keep up the good work.

Stunning, simply stunning. WOW is an understatement, or so it seems. That is about as close to perfect as a rifle could be. True Art. Thank you for the opportunity to drool.

SDH,

Since I cant find the original post where you expressed your dislike of the pedestal sling swivel studs I guess my response will have to be posted here.

Condsider this...custom rifles are built for the CUSTOMER. Whatever the customer wants....they get...style has little or nothing to do with it. It could be that Maurice' customer wanted the pedestals. Even if the customer didnt want the pedastals the work was well done and should be respected. Any good stockmaker can see good work and acknowledge it regardless of the fact that they agree or disagree with a certain style.

Steve,
I think your dates are off. I didn't start engraving until '85, and I didn't meet Maury until '86 when Jim Wisner and I went over to meet him and Waldron.

The scroll might not quite pass muster now, but it sure ain't first year engraving. My best guess would be '92-'94. If you email the serial number to me I can tell you exactly.
