dogtrainerPeep sight for weaver base
My rifle scope is held on weaver bases by Leopold's quick release rings. For the case of a scope failure during a hunt, I am looking for a peep sight that I could easily mount on one of the weaver bases.
Does such a sight exist?
A company/product name or address would be helpful.

D HumbargerYou can get an Ashley back up peep sight to fit the Weaver base from Brownells. Windage & elevation adjustment is somewhat limited due to the compact size of the unit which makes front sight installation very critical if one isn't already installed. The're made from steel too! Item # 006-105-000.

DeBeeAshley now sells an integral adjustable peep on a Weaver base for Remington rifles. They recommend high or x-high rings, however...
I hope they make one for the Mauser eventually, it might be the ticket for a Mauser based scout or practical carbine...
I made one awhile back, milled a flat spot on top of the Weaver rail and screwed a homemade peep to it. I sighted it in by filing the bottom of the peep for elevation and moving it in its elongated mounting slots for windate. Once that's worked out, there's nothing to go wrong.
