reloader len''Stuck ''
A friend of mine gave me a rem 700 30.06.
It sat in his closet for years gathering dust and rust. Taking the gun apart for cleaning and a
trigger job i noticed that the ejector button or
plunger was stuck in not out. I brought this up to my friend and he said he had left the gun loaded for some time and it froze up''his main
reason for giveing it to me'',i have a new one to
replace it with.I just cant get the old one out,
i have soaked it in break free and heated it up,
still will not come loose, also the trigger engagement screw will only turn 1/4, the over travel and trigger weight screw came loose just fine any suggestions? thanks Reloader len

Drift out the ejector cross pin and hit the bolt face HARD with a plastic mallet. The object is to use inertia to pull the ejector out.
It sounds like the trigger screw has been staked in place. You might have to disassemble the trigger and run the screw on through and out the back, then re-tap the hole.

MarkI'll be interested to see what other people have done, those stuck plunges are sure a PIA!
I was able to get one unstuck by taking an electric engraving tool, removing the tip and replacing it with a finishing nail, and using that and half a can of WD40 to vibrate it free. One thing though is that the plunger will still have some movement to the rear until you press it in, so make sure it is well soaked with penetrating oil first before you try to work it free.

LeftoverdjI like that one, Mark.
Kinda like taking a baby jackhammer to it.

Jim KobeI have had one or two of these types of problems in the shop. The fix is to set up the bolt in the mill, vertically, and drill out the offending part. Usually what happens is when the drill bit gets in a ways, the ejector breaks loose and breaks the drill bit, but the spring will eject the whole works. A bigger problem is when the spring is rusted in one cannot get that out. Usually takes a bunch of new cusswords before that comes out.

Just a thought. Do they make an "easy out" small enough for that diameter.
