triggerguard1Opinions on CZ 22 Hornet
Has anybody here had any experience with these rifles? What's the quality and workmanship like? How about out-of-the-box accuracy. I wouldn't mind owning something else in this caliber besides a Ruger. The Thompson Center Contender is also on my get list.

crowrifleI purchased a TC Contender carbine about 15 years ago and thought it was the diggity bomb, until I bought my CZ 527 in .22 Hornet. For the money it is hard to beat. I got MOA or slightly above with about everything I ran through it. Settled on AA1680 and 40 grain V-Max's. The only complaint is that you can not seat the bullet to kiss the lands and expect them to fit in the magazine. Mine is effectively a single shot.

30 Caliber Mag FanMatt-
Considering the competition and the price I concluded that the CZ Hornet was hard to beat.
Out of the box accuracy was 1 MOA and I felt that it was capable of better. Mine had a tendancy to double group rounds where the individual groups within the same string were about .5 MOA but on a whole 1 MOA. I recently went to the expense of having it pillar bedded and have not had a chance to shoot it since.
Hornets have a jaded reputation regarding accuracy. A common mistake in reloading for the hornet is to use small rifle primers which are really to hot for most hornet loads and inaccuracy is due to inconsistant powder burn. I have been using pistol primers and Hornady 35 gr. V-max with good success.
Good luck!

<KBGuns> 22 Hornet and K-HornetI have been wanting a CZ527 in 22 Hornet, to rechamber to K-Hornet, ever since reading that thread in the Wildcating forum.

CustomstoxMatt, Howard Homesley bought one last year just before we went on our annual sage rat killing spree in Crane Oregon. It is one sweet shooter. He had it rechambered to a K hornet by Jack and we are off again on the same trip a week from Thursday. Drop by the Crystal Crane hot springs on Friday and go shooting.
I was very impressed with it. I have never run into anyone who wasn't absolutely thrilled with the accuracy of the CZ's. the actions seem to be sound and well made. Jack sings there praises and with my metal skills I am best off keeping my mouth shut rather than voice an opinion. I think they are a gem.

222blrI have been looking hard at a .22 hornet and looked at the CZ...but I hate that ugly magazine bulge!!!!!!!!!! otherwise is was a great looking gun.....may try to look for a single shot if I cant find an attractive bolt gun....bob

30 Caliber Mag FanOne other note regarding the CZ 527 in .22 Hornet. I purchased mine with a single set trigger which makes it a gem to shoot off of the bench for either targets or varmits. That trigger is sweet.
