Identify this Mauser?
Any good or one of the inferior wartime production?

That K98k was manufactured jointly by Gustloff Werke & Mauser/Borsigwalde in 1943.
Do you want to sell it or trade?

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Wartime production is not "inferior" across the board. Such production is merely "suspect" and is not recommended for the basis of a $2K project, especially if it involves rechambering to a more powerful cartridge.

The rifle in the photo looks to be in decent shape, and as such may be a collector's item. Assuming headspace is OK, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot them in the original 8x57.

Thanks for the help men.

Doug, it's at a local auction and if it's in decent shape and the price is right I'll bid. I'll let you know if I get it and want to move it on.

Bob check to see if the serial numbers match or not. That has a great bearing on its value.
