larrysSuggestions for accoutrements, please.
I have my Koa stock inlet now and am looking for suggestions as to types and colors of grip caps, forend tips, butt pads, etc. Since koa is a lighter wood, I am not real happy with the stark contrast between it and ebony, so I am looking for help. Was thinking about walnut, mesquite or cocobolo. Here is a good color representation of the wood I am using, although mine has figure and some streaking.

congomikeI like dark ebony forend tips, but I agree that that might look a bit odd on this light of stock. I have a nice mesquite blank that I am thnking the same things about.
I think a red recoil pad would look fine, and stil maintain that "classic" look. As for grip cap, I think a nicely polished blued steel would look fine. Even though it is dark in color, it has a shine to it that I think would look great. IMHO, NO spacers, I think they look really bad on any rifle.

richjOn second thought Bubinga would not contrast enough.

stockerThere has been a lot of stocks made of figured maple with ebony wood trim. Doesn't get much lighter toned than maple and they look pretty good with ebony. Of course, you could also get some red root stain and add colour to the koa if you think the ebony is a real problem.
