Screw Specification

Screw Specification
Admittedly kind of a lame question, but real nonetheless.

I have taken the express sights off a post-64 Winchester Model 70 African Express rifle. Does someone have a specification for the screw that would be proper to put in the barrel hole?

I'm not a gunsmith but I cuss like one when I slam my pee-pee in a screen door- I'd say the screws are 6-48's or 8-40's.

I believe Brownells has both as "plug screws" to fill the holes nicely.

Perfect. Just didn't know the name.

It is a 6-48 and Brownells does have the perfect Hex Plug Screws.

I have purchased them slotted, also.

-and that wasn't a lame question, the plugs dress things up nicely, as do slugs to fill empty dovetails, one of which I happened to order after following your link to Brownells.
