Lawson Thumbholes?
I just got off the phone with the Harry Lawson company, they are sending a catalog.

For $1500 on my action, XXX French walnut, pad, douglas barrel, trigger job, bluing, muzzle break... Ready to shoot.

Anyone use them lately?

I am probably going to get them to build me a 264 Winchester and a 358 Norma. I also want to send my 257 Weatherby down for a black laminate stock.

D99,
To answer your question, no I haven't used them lately, but in the past(77) or so I had them make a stock for me, along with some other work(caliber designation, which was done in long hand just as I had prescribed). And the blueing was the best. Harry is now gone so I can't comment on their work now, but when I had mine done it doesn't get much better. Mine was done in the Cochise thumbhole and it is a joy to shoot off hand. And my wood is extrordinary, AAA+ and at the time was a bargain.Less than $500 for everything.

I own one of his older TH stocks on a 22-250 and being local I run into guys at the ranges that use his shop. All good feedback. I love my stock for slow varmint work but find it very slow for mounting. I would not want a TH on a big game rifle, but that's just my taste.

A friend of mine has an older Lawson rifle in 300 Mag with the thumb hole stock and his muzzlebreak.
The rifle is put together and finished very well.
It shot VERY GOOD.

I have a Lawson Mountaineer .308 built on a Steyr Mauser. Neat lightweight rifle, all of five pounds with scope, sling and full magazine.
Randy Lawson does good work. He's done two rifles for me, a 7x57 Mauser and a .280 Remington. Both rifle as MOA or better. I'm planning a .35 Whelen by them in the not too distant future.

My plan is a Ruger-77 in 358 Norma or 9.3x64, and a Remington M700 300 Ultra.

My wife I had the pleasure of meeting Harry Lawson back in 1978. He was a true gentleman. Harry gave us a grand tour of his place & treated us as though we were millionairs. thumb

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Got the cattledog from Lawson's today. Nice stuff. Going to get Christmas paid for and have a few stocks ordered by March. I will let you know how the rest progresses.
