Montana 1999 striker/firing pin question
Does anyone have any photos (or description) of how the Montana 1999 striker/firing pin is retained? Are tools required to disassemble the bolt and firing pin? Is there a c-clip involved (like the CZ 550)? How would you rate the robustness compared to other actions' strikers?

I bet that if you called or emailed the company they would tell you.

FISH!!

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

The Montana spring is retained by a washer and a c-clip.I recently changed out two main springs for the newer style stronger ones, offered by Montana. It is a simple operation if you make a tool to retain the disasembled fireing pin assembly. Place the three position safety in the mid position, remove the bolt from the rifle and unscrew the striker assembly from the bolt. Now we need to make a simple little tool to compress the spring. I took an old putty knife with about a 3" blade and cut it off the handle. I then made an elongated slot in the top edge the same dia. as the firing pin. You simply clamp the putty knife blade in your vise about a half inch below your slot. Insert the spring assemblt down into the blade ,push forward compressing the spring and remove the c-clip and washer with your fingers, release the spring pressure. to reasemble repeat the process. It is quite easy once you make the simple tool. It seems quite strong, never heard of any issues with it
