Anyone store a dot sight in a buttstock?
instead of installing irons on a rifle I was thinking of storing a dot sight (battery/non-battery) in the buttstock.
anyone do that?
No. Just use the scope. Modern scopes do not fail. Usually. I install a lot of iron sights; 99% are just cosmetic additions.

sambarman338I would not want anything with a battery as a back-up. If a scope pegs out often enough for the battery to still have charge, you've got the wrong scope.

Take battery operated drills...the higher the ladder, the sooner the battery goes dead. Just the way what it is!

leemar28I havent seen but a few scopes fail. Have seen several knocked out of service by horses, rocks, and one by the rear wheels of a truck. Batteries are not something I trust.
