For the Remington Fans Only!
Thought I'd share a few photos of a couple mtn rifles I put together last summer. The blue one for myself, the second one for a pard. Both rifles were built to same specs.

Rem 700 actions, KG Gun-Koted, 22.5" Pac-Nor Supermatch SS barrels in 7-08AI, 11 twists. RifleBasix triggers, pillar-bedded in McMillan's Mtn Rifle stocks. Both rifles push 140s at 2950fps and group under .5" Some of you may recognize these pics from 24hour campfire awhile back. Of course I ought to be careful, knowing this is mauser country, right? Nice. How much do they weigh? 7-08AI would make a nice whitetail round, and would do nice on antelope too. Dont know if I would exactly call it an elk cartridge though. I like the green stock. And I think the black action with stainless barrel looks very nice.

Really Neat Rifles. How long did it take U to get the stocks?

Dave B,
Weights are 7lbs,14oz less ammo and sling. I use mine for muleys too.

Hillbilly,
I ordered both stocks at the same time. Blue stock = 6.3mos, green stock = 3.5mos. The shortest wait I've had with McMillans was 1.5mos, the longest was the blue one pictured. MtnHtr

Yup, I too remember these rifles, haven't stopped thinking about them either! Really slick, like a custom on a Remington will to be,if you're a 700 lover, I am.I'm currently awaiting the completion of my own 7-08AI, mine on a Sako L579 action with Pac Nor #1,10" twist,McMillan Hunter stock and 2.5-8 Leo in Sako mounts.

Nice rifles!

How much does it cost to put one of those together?

MntHntr,

Even as a Mauser (and clones) fan, I'd still say those were two nice looking rifles.

And yes, this is more 'Mauser Country' than the Camfire Site. [Smile] Thank Goodness, as I need to come here for sanctuary some times. [Wink]

Those darn guys over there, with their fancy super accurate Remingtons and all those dead animals. How dare they!...

FR,
I did all the work myself except the rebarreling.(Thanks Pac-Nor) I have a total of around $1250 for each rifle less scope. These do have RifleBasix triggers also. MtnHtr

Mtn, what bbl. contour's are those?

Thanks,

Brad,
These were special 2.5 contours, .635 muzzle dia., not on the charts. About the stiffest barrel you can sink in a McMillan Mtn Rifle stock. I kept the weight in the barrels, that way the sight picture settles down quicker if you're breathing hard after a steep hike and game shows up. These balance well, I just can't decide which rifle of my ever growing rifle battery is my favorite. [Wink] MtnHtr
