6_5X578x57 project
I'm planning to build a 8x57 IS rifle for hunting, because I have sucess with this round and is very mild recoil cartridge, but I load it, to high pressures (60.000 PSI). I want to use an intermediate mauser action. The options I have are M 24/47 or M 48 Yugo mausers. I shall use a new barrel (a Lothar-Walther) and a new stock. What is the best option between these actions for the project?

tnekkcc24/47s and M48s are some of the few 8x57s that often have minty bores.
I have very few military 8mm barrels that will do 1" 5 shot groups at 100m, but they are all from the small group of minty bores.
Bend the bolt.
Drill and tap.
Shoot some groups with sporting bullets, like 47 gr IMR4895 200 gr SMK, and see what you have.
Lothar Walther are excellent barrels if you need them.

Huhhh..
I have an commercial(civilian) Oberndorf M98 8x57 IS for sale which happens to be an original intermidiate action. It shoots great(so does its owner). The rifle has einhack scopemount with a Gerhard Nickel scope on.
The rifle is made in 1913.
Shoots 200 grain bullets at 2640 Ft/Sec all day long....
Interested???..
Jens,
Check thy PMs.
Ignacio,
Hands down the 24/47, assuming it wasn't too roughly treated in 1947. I have owned both, and the model 24 was better made and better finished in my opinion. I have seen some OK 48s, but many look rough with a lot of toolmarks.
If the barrel is really nice, consider cutting it to 20" or so and making a full stock rifle - I am working on a 7x57 like that, military barrel steps and all, which should be quite nice when done.
