I was quoted 200 for refinishing the stock on a win mod 70 featherweight, and 195 to reblue all metal back to factory specs. Do not know if this is a good deal or not but they are here in Texas and I wanted to drop by the shop to check out the guns they build any way.

That's like asking how much a dog should cost.....and the answer is.....what dog!!!

But lets try..a decent job of refinishing and recheckering can run from $200 to over $750 and in some cases not possible at all if you have very thin stocks such as Mannlichers.

I'd say a decent price would fall around $350 for this.

Allow three to six months but make certain that it's agreed what the delivery date is and check ahead of time to insure that the work is on schedule.

Personally for a field gun I'd use tru oil or tongue oil.

I'm not sure what kind of stock you are talking about but...

Last time I checked bedding was around $100 give or take...depending on who did the work.

I'm just now trying out the winrest product and restoring a pre 64 Win. stock myself. Last I checked on their site they charged $200 to refinish a stock
I bought a couple of checkering tools and will attempt to rerun the checkering myself in a few weeks.

The other posters have pretty much nailed it but I thought you might want to check out the above sites if you wanted to do some of the work yourself.

Wood refinishing can vary.
I charge about $100-$300 depending on checkering, type of finish etc.
It can really vary from person to person.

Glass bedding is $100.

As far as metal refinishing is concerned, $195 sounds like a horrible price unless it is for a really really nice hand polished job.
I sometimes charge that kind of money if it is really the kind of work the customer wants but $100 is really a normal, nothing too fancy job.

Have it bead blasted and rust blue it yourself. It isn't hard if you keep everything REALLY clean. Kinda like makin good beer.

The guns a pre 64 Mod 70.I took it sheep hunting
and the wood got a few scratches and dings
and the finish wore off in a spot or two from
rubbing on the pack.The gun is my deer/antelope/
mulie rifle.On my Alaska/bad weather trips I'll
take my rifle that is just about finished,a pre
64 Mod 70,Echol's legend stocked 338 WM.

I like the wood stock...but I think if I
like the Legend stock I'll just put one
on it too.Even though It's a fair weather
deer rifle,I tend to ding them up a little.
