FAST996California Law AB962 Selling Ammo
I don't know if this is the right forum,but I figure FFL's might be able to answer this.
Given that Cal law AB962 was signed eliminating internet sales into CA. I have some ammo listed on a auction site.
A intersted party that resides in CA whats to know if he can make a in person p/u of the ammo at my residence in Nevada and transport it back into CA.
Man this is pure BS but I would like to sell this ammo, but I do not want to put myself or the purchaser in legal jeoprady.
Anybody have some legal clarification on this issue.

kcstottI'd just ship it to him. The law doesn't go into effect till 2010 and even then I'd still ship it.

The law does not restrict "internet sales". It says to sell ammo in CA it must be a Face-to-Face transaction plus other things. So if the buyer is staying in CA and the seller is trying to ship to CA then the transaction is occuring in CA and the transaction is prohibited.
If the buyer goes to NV, the transaction is occuring in NV. How the buyer and seller learned of each other is irrelevant.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Well that sounds like they restrict internet sales (in California) to me.

GSP7It only applys to "handgun" ammo, pistols and revolvers is what the alleged law says, It is not in effect anyway, NRA is trying to repeal it also.
From what I make of the damn thing when I read the Bill and all the sub articles bullshit, It does not effect rifle, shotgun or reloading supplies, so all that stuff is good. Just Handgun ammo in effect in late 2010 or2011 only if it doesnt get in repealed

You have to consider what the law says...the law does not talk about Internet sales. The law describes the requirement to sell handgun ammo in the State of Ca.
Fast996's question seems really to be:
If I advertise ammo on a website (aka the internet) and a buyer from CA drives to me in NV and buys the ammo is that covered by this law.
The answer is no because a: the law covers sales in the state of CA and b: the law has nothing to do with the internet; i.e., just because he advertised it on the internet is irrelevant.

The law may not specifically address internet sales but it does require all sales in the state of california to be a face to face transaction. That in itself eliminates internet sales that are delivered to california.
I understand what the OP question was but it also sounded like he wanted to know if he could just ship it to him. Either way if he buys ammo outside of the state well California law doesn't apply because they have no law on importing ammo.
And either way the damn law is BS anyway as it will only stop those dumb enough with a criminal record to buy ammo at wall mart. Sacramento already has this law in affect and they have already busted a few people but over all it would be like banning assault rifles (as the medial calls them) less then 1/10 of 1% are used in a crime. Weapon of choice is still a cheep stolen (or otherwise illegally obtained) handgun
