seafire/B17GQuestion for the Stock Makers out there
If any of you boys have any experience, I wanted soem feed back before I massacre a Benchrest Stock in Laminate I received from Richards...
It is for a Mauser action. however the cheek piece allows the bolt to open about 30% of the way, and then needs to be cut down or have some surgery on it before the Action can be mounted and function...
So I am looking for a few guys who have experience or suggestions to offer, before I end up doing the

and Butchering it...
Thanks in advance guys!
cheers

zimbabweNothing really magic just cut away the comb until the action opens. I have seen MANY benchrest and varmint guns done in this way. It's rather like inletting the cocking piece into the comb. If done neatly it looks neat. Have no idea of any other way to accompolish it. The bolt does not rotate at this point so its a rather easy job.

Jim KobeI've done this on some match rifles that have an adjustable cheekpiece. When it is up, the bolt cannot be cycled. I simmply take the cheekpiece to the mill and take out material until it clears
Don't forget about removing the bolt to clean the rifle
