Does anyone know if this South African company is still in business? They build magnum Mauser actions & complete rifles.

I don't know if they are - their website has been closed down and you get a message saying that the domain name is for sale. I hope that they survive - their guns were fabulous.

These well-made actions are apparently produced by a company in RSA called Vektor. Tom Carter and Butch Searcy import the actions into the USA.

As I recall I saw an ad for their rifles in the latest Hatari magazine (about Australia) from a gunshop in Alaska.

The shop in Alaska is probably Tom Carter's in Anchorage. Contact him at tcic@juno.com. Butch Searcy also has them.

If my memory serves me correctly, the Selous action is not made by Vektor, but made by another company in RSA. The used to have a web site www.selousrifles.com but I note that it is not available of late.

What I can tell you is that I was at the AIM show (RSA annual gun/hunting show) in JHB two weeks ago, and I had a look at the double square bridge mauser action which Vektor manufacture. They had two actions in the white, and I handled the one for about a half hour looking at the quality etc.

I was impressed and nearly put down the USD 1600 they wanted for the action. Why not? I'm seriously considering a custom Sabi rifle in 500 Jeffrey which I also saw at the show which was exceptional. Sabi make some nice rifles.

Unfortunatley I don't have Vektor's contact details with me at this time, but you can contact me offline if you want me to pass on the details in the last week of March when I'm back in the RSA.
