FNC bolt action

Rick RFNC bolt action
Has anyone here tried one of the FNC SPR actions like CDNN is selling on page 18 of their catalog?
CDNN's Catalog
I take it that it's a Winchester-ish model 70-ish action with a detachable magazine.
I've been contemplating a new .308 rifle...

Rub LineIt's a GOOD DEAL. I know a local gun builder that purchased ten of these and got them, I believe, for $300.00 each. THe scope rail is a $100.00 retail value.
I wish they offered a long action.

tin canI saw an article on them somewhere, as I recall they have a black parkerized-type finish.

Rick RMcMillan says they can make a stock to fit this action (they were more concerned with the bottom metal than the action, but said they could accommodate the FNC's setup).
I'm thinking of a light sporter rifle to mimic my present .416RemMag and if I get one of these the scope rail will go to the classified.

clowdisJust finished a pair of these in 6.5 Creedmoor for a customer. They are production actions so figure on lapping the bolt lugs and squaring the front of the receiver, etc. Since they are a knock off of the pre 64 Winchester you will need to cut the extractor clearance in the back of the barrel and cone it so it feeds properly. A good deal if this is what you're looking for.

SmallCalI have one of the floorplate models in the safe for future use. They are a Model 70 action (FN and Winchester have the same owner). The SPR stands for 'Special Police Rifle'. FN made complete guns in .308 with these actions (check the auction sites, they are pricey), high grade barrels, and McMillan A-5, I belive, stocks.
They are nice M-70 actions as far as I know.

wildcat junkieHow hard would it be to convert to a hinged floorplate?
Also, aren't the M70 Win "short" actions a bit longer than the M700 Rem "short" action.
I thought I read somewhere once that the M70 Win "short" action would accomodate a COAL in the neighborhood of 3.10".
That would be great for some of the 7X57 family of cartridges, 257 Roberts, 6mm Rem etc. Not to mention the 7X57 itself.
All of those cartridges are a bit cramped in a M700 Rem "short" action.

I'm not sure I want to build on a rifle with a detachable (read "lose-able") magazine. Do you happen to have a source for standard floorplate models?
