M1TankerBarrel threads for CZ action
Just a quick question. I have a buddy who has a CZ 550 in 30/06 and I have a 30 cal Shilen barrel pre threaded for a large ring Mauser that he wants to screw on his rifle and chamber to 308. Are the barrel threads on the 550 the same as standard 98's? Are the 550 Safaris the same barrel thread as 98's? Thanks for your help.

KingfisherI don't know the answer and someone who probably does will mostlikely respond before Monday but if you email Doug (Shilen) he'll certainly be able to answer your question. He's usually pretty quick to respond.

Bill LeeperNo, they are not the same. The CZ is a 2mm thread pitch (roughly 12.7 tpi)while the mauser is 12tpi. Regards, Bill

StefanThe M-98 also have a 55 deg. thread not a 60 deg. that Brno and CZ uses.
