shootawayRemington custom m700 abg and apr rifle actions vs bdl and adl actions
Is there any difference in the quality of the actions of the $1700 ABG and APR rifles compared to the $750 BDL and ADL rifles?

D99They get a little bit more polishing, lugs lapped, raceway lapped, triggers are the same lawyer trigger, barrels are made int he custom shop, stocks are from Bell & carlson or HS Precision, same as regular production rifles or much better wood int he wood models.

iamgeneDefinitely more polishing all over inside and out, blue nice and deep, my trigger crisper,...just feels "tighter" than my ADL and BDL. Mine (375 H&H ABG) has a drop box mag and a laminated stock.

D99I had a 338 M700 custom KS for quite a while. It was a great rifle, but I hate m700 safetys on big game hunts. I swapped it for a R93 Professional in the same caliber.
That 338 was a hell of a nice rifle. I don't like the gunstock finish. It feels like the covered it in a piece of pantyhose and then sprayed paint on top of it. It's super easy to scratch.
The safety cost me an elk and a few coyotes. That's why I switched. The R93 safety works with gloves.
I would own another one, but I would do something about they size of the safety.

Marc_StokeldNO, they are the sam eaction and the only difference is the surface finish. THe ABSOLUTE worst action of any kind I have ever seen was out of Remington's "Custom Shop." CS guns are consistently worse than regular Wal Mart M700's as far as squareness. I don't know why this is, but it definitely IS. If some one tells you differently, I would politely ask them how many they have gone over and measured before.
Again, the only difference is surface treatment of the metal.
And the barrels are no better either. If you don't beleive it, buy a borescope and start running it down CS barrels and Wal Mart barrels. Same POS barrels on both, and further proof is in the shooting.

iamgeneMine shoots pretty good with Nosler 300 grainers and IMR 4831, right around an inch. Rifle didn't like the Barnes X bullets, decent accuracy with the Speer 235 Hotcores for practice.
Drop-Box magazine is nice, bought an extra, haven't had a fail to feed, jam or fail to eject, will feed upside down, sideways etc.
Barrel is a diff contour than the standard ADL/BDL's, they call their old world contour. Stock fits me fairly well, I could use a tad more pull, recoil pad is comparable to the Limbsaver on my 416.
I got mine NIB on sale and happy with it so far.

gixxerMy ABG IMO has a smoother trigger pull than my wife's ADL, but besides that, The action is the same unless they actually do some polishing and lapping of the internals. BTW mine feeds 375RUM's without any probs whatsoever. FWIW next time around I would spend a grand on a CZ550 or Winchester. Why? besides the action only being able to chamber ammo with a max of .532 or.534 case head without spending money, it is time for a change.
