I've got a chance to buy a Remington Model 7 KS .350 Magnum at a nice price but wonder about the fiberglass/composite stock on it. Does anyone know who makes it (McMillan?) or what quality it is? Any experiences good or bad with these stocks?

I think it is the same stock they put on the 700 Titanium I have. Mine was made by Bell and Carlson, I love it. Good quality, I am sure you will like it.

Pop her out of the stock and look in the barrel channel. My KS's say McMillan,in the barrel channel..........

Your stock could be a Brown-Precision.I have a Rem 700 ADL/FS in 7 Rem Mag with a grey fibreglass stcok. A couple 'smith's and other posters have told me that it is a Brown-Precision.Very nice stock. My rifle was built in '87 according to Remington.

The early KS Mountain rifles did come with Brown Precision stocks. More recently, I've heard that Remington has had the same pattern stock produced for them by McMillan.

I don't know the answer, but I do know that Remington will not sell you just the stock. I asked and they said no. I wanted one to marry up with a Titanium short action. The KS custom mountain rifle stock is trimmer than the Ti stock (and I assume about as light).

I called Brown Pecision and they do have the pattern (this is the one with the rounded butt on the pistol grip---are we talking 'bout the same stock?) They told me they used to make the stock for Rems custom shop, but no more.

I bought a used early KS Mountain in 375 H&H. It had a Brown Precision stock that cracked behind the magazine well. I sent it to Remington for repair and they replaced it with a McMillan free of charge so I suspect the newer rifles use McMillan.
