There is business called "Treebone Carving" that offers stock duplication/carving.
Anyone used them?
Any comments?
Thanks,
Garrett

ForrestBM1Tanker has used them and speaks highly of them. You might send him a PM if he doesn't see this post. He's leaving for Iraq in a couple of weeks, so he might be busy with other things right now.

M1TankerI have used Treebone on several occasions. I have had him duplicate using my blank as well as selecting from his invetory. George Peterson is a super guy to seal with and will bend over backwards to see that you are a happy customer. I dont believe he offers duplication for 1 piece rifle stocks but I may be mistaken. But if you need a stock for anything lever action or single shot he has just about any pattern you can imagine - especially the 1885's, Sharps, and Rolling Blocks. His inletting is excellent but it is not a drop in fit - about as close as you can get though. The exterior is also nicely cleaned up after he is through turning. I hope this answers some of your questions.

loud-n-boomerI used them for a Martini stock from a blank that I supplied. They layed the stock out exactly where in the blank that I asked, and the pattern that he has flows very well, with nicely proportioned lines. I would use them again.

OMJA friend had him do a one piece stock for a Browning A-bolt, came out very nice. This was when he was located in Priest River, ID, but I heard that he moved to Raton, NM.

Bill/OregonI bought wood from George for a rolling block many years ago, and John King put it all together for me: Treebone wood, Husqvarna RB action, Badger barrel in .40-70 Sharps Bottleneck. It was a wonderful rig from teh butt to the muzzle.
