IRON SIGHT FOR STAINLESS RIFLES
HI
I'VE ORDERED A RUGER 77 STAINLESS,BUT IT HAS NO IRON SIGHT AAND I WILL PUT AN IRON SIGHT ON IT .BECAUSE I FEEL A RIFLE IS POOR AND NAKED WITHOUT A GOOD IRON SIGHT. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? WHICH BRAND OF SIGHT IS BEST SUITED FOR A R 77?
REGARDS

Just a set of those rem 700 iron sights would be cheap and do the job for the amount of times you will use them I reckon, or if you want to get a little more $$ just a standing leaf and ramp front express style maybe ??

You can buy a stainless iron sight set from Ruger for not much money at all. Go to their web sight and then find the exploded views for the Model 77 Stainless. I believe both front and rear sights will set you back about $40.00.

NECG carries a complete line of interchangeable front sight blades that are a "no gunsmithing" fit for the Ruger front sight base.

PS PLEASE DON"T USE ALL CAPS. IT IS UGLY AND DISTRACTING. THANKS.

I definitely don't mean to start anything but would truly like to know why it is ugly and distracting to use all caps. I honestly don't understand the reasoning. I have heard this since I started to use the internet but no one has ever explained to me a good reason why. I have been working with computers all my adult life (over 40 years) programming, operating, managing and most of that time it was all in caps. I have learned to use lower case in order not top offend anyone.

Personally, I feel like the one typing in all caps is "SHOUTING AT ME."

Other than that, it's just a sign of poor penmanship.

You know many years around teletypes and the caps don't bug me. Got used to it.

What I find hard is long posts with no paragraph breaks, they are hard to read. And they definately take longer, with a couple of rereads to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I certainly won't critise anyones typing ability, me and keyboards are not a marraige made in heaven, many revisions just to correct all the spelling errors, that I self generate.
Sometimes I think a chicken types faster than me. homer

The common interpretation is that all caps means you are yelling.

I was not aware of that intrepretation. Sorry if I have offended anyone. I suppose if caps are yelling then bold caps would be screaming?

YES! Smiler

No one died and left me in charge as the grand grammar maven, so I will just speak for myself. I am not offended. Offensive would pertain to the content of some of my posts. When a post is in all caps it is much harder for me to read and understand. I am used to looking at the meaning cues in the normal writing style. I want to read and understand what people are posting (well, except on the political forum, and I don't go there often).

So, let me rephrase:
Please don't use all caps; I wish to more easily understand the meaning of your posts. THANK YOU.

PS Here is a link to the Ruger manual that has the part numbers and schematic drawing that may help you:
http://www.ruger-firearms.com/Firearms/PDF/22.pdf

The sight may also be available from Brownells. Look under their quick find schematic #716.

If you can't find it there send me a PM and I'll locate one for you.

If you would like the letters to be larger, hold down the "Control" button on a PC (Apple on a Mac) and hit the "plus" sign. To make them smaller, hold down the "Control" button on a PC (Apple on a Mac) and hit the "minus" sign.

Ruger probably makes the best iron sights in the business. I think they look pretty good, too.

Well, how does the front sight attach to a sightless ruger stainless rifle? I have one I would like a front sight for.
