Where does one find rings for a Sako Riihimaki?

mine has burris on it

I've got three L461's which take the same rings. I have a set of Talley's, Leupold, and Sako rings on them. All came from ebay or off the for forum sale sections. Leopold are nice one piece and available new from several sources and come in both 1" and 30mm. The Talley bases are still made and take standard Talley rings. Not sure about Burris and Redfield bases but they are on ebay all the time. Make sure you get the ones for the short action. The Sako's are probably not made any more but are out there and usually cost a bit more. They are windage adjustable. Sako Optilock may not fit the short actions but I'm not sure. Probably a couple other options I've missed.

Correct me if I am wrong but don't the rings you mention all require bases be installed first?

I know Talley makes bases, I have a set, that fit the Riihimaki, but I am trying to avoid the need for bases.

The Leupold ringmounts fasten directly onto the integral Sako dovetails. Unfortunately they do not have built-in windage adjustments like the original Sako mounts but they work.I just put a set on an L-61 Finnbear in .264WM and they work just fine.

The Leupold ringmount is the cleanest and simplest of the lot. Some people complain that it "looks" weak. I've had these mounts on a .375 H&H for 15 years and they're holding up fine. On your Riihimaki with it's chambering in a very light caliber (.222?) you will certainly have no trouble. Mount each ring just forward of the center of each dovetail, at approximately the same place on each dovetail. Since the left claw is fixed, you can move one mount or the other slightly fore or aft to very subtly change the windage of your scope if necessary to place its zero close to the middle of the adjustment range.

Millett makes neat little adapters which allow their Weaver-type Crossloc rings to mount on the Sako dovetails. I've had good service from these, also.

If you want to keep your Sako authentic, then the original Sako ringmounts are nearly always available on ebay. They are a bit heavier than the Leupolds and usually somewhat more expensive, however.
