I can't tell from your post exactly what type of Leupy mounts you now have, but, I use QRs on many of my '70s with complete satisfaction, they make extension rings for this model. Get a Leupy catalogue and check it out, I think you can make it all fit together, perfectly. The scope you are using is my all-time favourite big game scope, so, if you want to donate them, I will gladly give them a home!

Seriously, try the Leupy extensions and you will want to keep your scopes.

Well Bud, what can you expect from government, eh? I think that you are probably correct, for the new M-70, the Conquest is probably a better fit. But, they are rather bulky for my taste and I am a hardcore Leupy fan, I have scopes that have been dropped onto rocks while working in very rugged mountain country and they are still good after 30+ yrs. of use---better than I am!
