Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone can help on this?
Regards,
Michael.

BobsterIt would depend on how the action was re-contoured. More knowledgeable folks will chime in. I think I can remember Frank de Haas writing that the rear bridge should be milled down to match the bases. He suggested Mauser, Rem 700, Win 70. If there is a void "duck pond" under the sight ears, it will need to be filled.

dpcdRight; I sometimes machine the bridge flat to fit a Savage 110. Lots of ways to do it, as Bob said. Whatever you do, don't follow the advice to make the bridge the same height as the ring. Ugly.

kiwiwildcatSorry, should have mentioned this action has been gunsmithed and the sight ears have been removed.

BobsterYes, pics would be helpful. Generally though, you will need to remove the barreled action from the stock. Using dial/digital calipers, measure from the bottom action flat to the top of the front and rear bridges. Subtract the rear measurement from the front. You will need to find bases that will bring the installed height as close to even as possible. Shim to get closer. The manufacturer should be able to supply their base height measurements.

kendogDoing one now for a customer. Ears removed by others in the past to some random radius, not the same as the ring, and the bathtub not filled. Savage old style flat bridge long action appears to be the best work around for this issue.
