Sweets would probably eat a rod up in about 125 years!!

I have a one piece brass rod that I have been using with a lot stronger stuff than Sweets for about the last 40 years and its still the same deminsions it was 40 years ago as far as I can tell...and sometimes I even wipe it off, sometimes not...It has discolored at best.

That said, I would get a SS one piece rod...

a friend's 13 y/o just bought a 3 piece brass cleaning rod to use on his .243.Is this going to hurt his barrel?Or maybe the "Sweets" will eat the rod itself?Sorry if this is posted on the wrong forum,just seemed the most likely place to get an answer.

Sweets will eat the brass, and the thirteen year old will probably break the rod real quick. I'd recommend a quality one piece rod. Dewey, Kleanbore, Tipton all make good quality one piece rods.

Thanks for the info. I thought the "sweets" would eat a brass rod but wasn't sure. I told the kid to get a stainless rod but he bought this brass rod with a kit and it came in a really cool box so he bought it. I guess he'll return it and get a stainless rod.
