Sims, Deaccelerator, Limbsaver???

Gentlemen,
I am wondering about your experienced opinions on each of these pads. I have a wincester 30-06 that is not very severe at all, but just want to improve the hard factory pad. I am also looking for one for a light Remington 788 in .308 Win. That one will have to be a custom fit, but I am not scared of tackling that job. Any thoughts on which is better, and why?

For what you want, either would be fine. I have used both on different rifles and they are excellent pads.

I say "either" and "both" because the Sims pad IS the Limbsaver pad.

.300 Weatherby Win. M70 - Decelerator - I'm a happy guy.

7 Mag Encore - Factory pad gave me serious bruising after 50 rounds from the bench. Sims Limbsaver makes it so I can shoot it as much as I want.

Not sure about the limb saver as I'm sold on the decelerator. I installed one on my 404 Jeffery and it's tamed it like a puddy tat. In my world the slogan "if it works, don't fix it" has been good so I haven't tried the Limb saver.

Limbsavers are great but clean oil off them immediately or they'll absorb it and become permanently sticky .
It is widely recommended to store the rifle standing on it's muzzle to ensure longevity .

I recently installed a Sims Limbsaver on a 338-06. I am very happy with it & I am considering installing one atleast one more of my rifles.

I put a Decellerator on my .338 - it's head and shoulders above the hard factory Win pad. However, I recently had a KickEez put on the wife's rifle and my initial impressions are positive. We'll know more after we start working up oryx loads for it.

Simms pads are excelent at absorbing the recoil. I don't think they look as "classy" as the decelerator I do think they work a little better.

A little warning about the Simms so called "precision fit" pads. Don't bet on it. I haven't seen one yet that actually fit the stock it was made for properly. A grind to fit is the only way to go IMHO.

If you want the most recoil absorbtion get the large Simms pad and grind it down to fit your stock. You will have to grind off more pad and it will take a little longer to do but it will thin out the sides more and become more flexable. There is a bit more leeway on how far you can grind down a Simms pad than there is a Decelerator.

Does anyone know where I can locate a sims pad in Canada, and what the approximate price difference is between the Decelerator and the sims?
