375 H&H B/A and 8x68 action with photos

This is a pair that I finsihed a couple of weeks ago. 375H&H B/A and 8x68s. I really like that 8x68s round. The tanges have been left high on request. Enjoy the photos.

I just heard that Deadwood got something like 42 inches of snow in the last couple of days so you should be pretty much snowed in, which will give you nothing else to do than make a bunch more of those beautiful actions.

But I can't figure out why someone would want to leave that rear tang so high unless he wants a straight back grip.

I would bet they want to contour them to their own specs. I can't believe anyone would keep them that high. But, you never know....

Deadwood reported 40+ inches. The neighbor came over with a 966 Cat. front end loader, he made it about 1/2 way in and got stopped, Just kept spinning out. The driveway is steep. I'll get out, just not today.

The tanges will milled off right behind the trigger pivot to just below the cocking piece slot. Then an extended tange will be welded in and shaped.

I've changed the bolt handle design, they are shorter and 4 degrees farther out.

I've developed fixtures and programs for my std 60, std 300 and 375 drop bottom metals.

Still outscourceing the Rigbys bottom metal.

Other design changes include a full length rear bridge version where the rear bridge comes all the way to the back of the E-port no charger cut at all and in stainless, plus a wider footprint for better bedding stability. But a 1.3 ring. They Look almost like that 8x68 action.

Other Machining projects: 2 more Rigbys with .750 bores and ,2 505 with .750 bores.
It's all going pretty good. I show up 6 days a week and stay focused on making shop time productive. Thanks,

Stu does great work, the 338 Fed he built for me shoots 210gr factory fodder into .75" and feeds like a dream. Hope to send him more work next year.

One thing to always remember. If you go 260 and later decide you want 6.5 x 55 or 6.5 x 284
It is no problem to ream up to the next case.

My cousins wife is shooting a 260 I built on a titanium mex. she's very happy with the rifle and the caliber. This year she's killed a caribou and an elk with the 260.
