PyrotekHow rare is my Ruger MKII?
I have a Ruger MKII that is stainless steel, with 5.5" slab sided bull barrel, black plastic grip and not a competition model.
I don't see any thing like this in catalogs or on Ruger website. Can it be that the gun in described configuration was offered for a short time only?
Thanks

rootbeerYou own a handgun in Canada? How is this possible? I thought only the criminals and the government (aren't they pretty much the same guys?) has the heat in Canada.

dan belisleActually rootbeer, there rae a great many handgun owners in Canada. They just happen to be restricted and registered firearms in this country. At this point the government is still only trying to take them all away. FWIW - Dan

rootbeerI knew you could own rifles and shotguns but I was unaware that you guys could own handguns up there. Am I correct that handguns have been controlled and registered ever since the early 1930s up there and not once has it helped to solve a crime? It is costing you a fortune, but I hope that your database or whatever it is up there collapses under its own weight and expense. But you know, of course, the libs will say that for just a few billion more dollars and more intrusions into your life, they can fix it and you'll all be so much safer. They say the same stuff about welfare down here: more money and we can make it work...just a few dozen billion more and everything will work out fine. They've been saying it for almost 40 years now. It sickens me!

dan belisleYou've pretty much got it pegged Rootbeer. We've had handgun registration since 1934 and since then it hasn't helped solve a single crime. Now the feds are registering long guns, and yes the system seems to be collapsing under it's own weight. You're right though, they still cry "for just a few more billion" and of course my personal favorite, "how much is a childs' life worth". Ah liberals, it's like watching a car crash. - Dan

Yap DogI wasn't aware we'd been bombed. I thought it was just thunder.
Weren't we bombed by the Montreal Alouettes last August in Taylor Field?

<RugerNo3>This thread strayed off the original post a ways.

I recall seeing the slab-side at gun shows 5-6yrs ago. Not much more that I can help with. A nice looking firearm. Perhaps ordered by a distibutor as the 4" bull barrel camp gun was at the same time.
