what is the best oil for threading barrels? does anyone know if Do-Drill from brownells works?

Use any good 10W-30 or 10W-40 motor oil, just make sure to keep applying it liberally while cutting. You can't go wrong by overlubricating a cut like a thread. The best policy is to make many shallow cuts and make them slowly; don't rush the job.

I use Mobilmet S122 Water soluable cutting oil. Mixed three parts water to one. The benefit of water soluable is that the water carries away lots of heat.

If you can't install a cooling sysem then Do-Drill is great stuff. Leave the motor oil in your engine.

I've always had best luck with water soluable oils for cutting threads but DoDrill will work..
