bedding my new hunting rifle
I'm having a 300 win. mag. built on a stiller predator action with a shilen select match grade barrel. I havent decided yet but it will be in a H.S. precision stock or a Mcmillian. My question is how does this gun need to be bedded? Does it need to be bedded full length? Just action and recoil lug? Just the recoil lug? If the stock has aluminum bedding blocks does it even need bedded at all? I really want this gun to be a great shooter. Thanks for all of the help

Unless specifically requested by the owner, I bed all stocks including the HS with the full aluminum block. The action needs to be held firmly in place without the possibility of shifting from shot to shot, and bedding is the only way to ensure it stays put. At a minimum, bed the recoil lug area including the sides, and the tang. Float the barrel for starters.
