hillbillybearADJUSTING THE TRIGGER ON A MODEL 70 WINCHESTER
Hi Folks,
Does anyone have some detailed instructions/diagrams for adjusting a model 70 winchester trigger ? (or are some available on the net) I don't want to do anything fancy, just a good 2.75-3.00lb hunting trigger.
I have done trigger jobs on several Remington 700s but all the Model 70s I have owned already had nice trigger jobs when I bought them. From what I understand the Model 70 trigger isn't overly complicated possibly even easier than the Remington.
Also does anyone have a surefire trick for getting the barreled action loose from that damnable Winchester factory "hotglue" bedding job.
Thanks for the input,
HBB

<Savage 99> www.snipercountry.com/Articles/AdjustingWinTrigger.htmIf you must have the trigger lighter than what it will do with the above method then cut or change the spring. Also do not bother to stone the sear surfaces unless you are positive they are defective. Instead wipe them clean and rub some moly powder on them.
Be careful about adjusting or cutting the spring on some newer M 70's as I have seen springs that were too short to even work with the maximum adjustment.
To get the stock off someone suggested freezing the rifle when it was glass bedded. Try that.

snowcatAs for removing the action--just break the stock, that's what I did (unbelieveable how USRAC has gone down hill in recent years.) Freezing didn't help mine.
