Dan@Montana Rifle CoMRC Professional Hunter Action #'s as of 8-15-03
Here are the latest numbers for the Professional Hunter actions. As you can see there are a lot of good numbers left to be had. So if you want to get in on the $525 Charter Issue price give one of our salesmen a call.
The list below contains three colums. They are:
1st column is the actual serial number
2nd column is your initials or the initials of the company who ordered it
3rd column is the part number of the action ordered. Breakdown of the part number is as follows:
1st letter "D" denotes that it is a Pro Hunter Action
2nd letter denotes action material "C" for Chrome Moly and "S" for Stainless Steel
3rd letter denotes "R" for Right Handed or "L" for left handed
4th letter denotes bolt face
"M" for .534" Magnum Bolt Face
"X" for .604" Rigby Bolt Face
"G" for .648" Bolt Face
One side note: I didn't realize until I looked at a new list from the boss that we were going to make a .648" bolt face. Good news for the guys who want the really big cartridges.

steve505Dan,
to clarify,
"4th letter denotes bolt face
"M" for .534" Magnum Bolt Face
"X" for .604" Rigby Bolt Face
"G" for .648" Bolt Face"
For the G bolt face, this specifies the intended caliber head size, so what is actual bolt face dia. (hopefully around 0.75").

steve

500grainsDan,
I have a question about your .648 boltface. Is that set up for the 505 gibbs (.640 max rim diameter)? Nominal rim diameter on brass is often 0.630 to 0.632, so 0.648 seems a bit large but I am not a gunsmith.
Also for the .648 boltface, how would the rails be set up? Any different from the .604 boltface?
Also, please confirm that the bolt body diameter will be a nominal 0.800, not 0.700 as in a regular model 70.
Thanks!

jeffeossoDan,
I reckon i can do my own rib... would be nice to have it just be a "raised" octatgon flat...

Please see questions two posts up.

Rod@AcrabondThe bolt diameter was (things might have changed) .805in. This is plenty big enough. And the rails are likely to be different for that .505 bucket to feed right. .648 should be fine...think radius over the case head size and .009 is OK. What some folks will just have to know is: How much meat is left? How big can I go?
Right?

500grainsRod,
Although the published rim diameter for the 505 gibbs and 585 nyati is .640", a lot of the brass measures at 0.630" to 0.632".
If the bolt face is opened to 0.648", that could give 0.018" clearance, which seems like too much.
What do think and what do you recommend?
