Pachmayr RED Recoil Pads are Back
Pachmayr is againg making red colored recoil pads in their decelerator line that were a favorite of many people on rifles, both custom and new. There had been a campaign in recent years to get them to make them again. Looks like they listened. Brownells has them, item # 690-000-015

Chic,

Who would have thunk it? Somebody listened.
When Allen wrote of the new pads awhile back it made my day. These should be even better than the old ones for recoil. I suspected Allen of having agents on both coasts gathering the old "reds" from flea markets, and off the back shelves of musty old gun shops. I intend to lay in a lifetime supply this time.

These new red Decelerators are nice pads, and the quality is exactly what you'd expect from Pachmayr. I have an older red Old English pad on my .338, and this new Decelerator matches the color of the older Pachmayr red pads just about perfectly. It's vastly superior to the other, non-Pachmayr red pads that are still on the market, and would be suitable for even the best rifles or shotguns. Only the 1" medium size is available at present, but that size covers most applications very well.

HBH, I've laid in a supply, but I think I'm going to order a few more! My experience with shooting products is that any time you find something good and worthwhile that you really like, it'll soon be discontinued.........

i have laid in a supply of them while they are can be had. i was down to my last one. is realy only the proper pad for some firearms. the current ones are only in one size ,but if we complain enough we might get different sizes and thicknesses.

Darn,

That makes all the pads I've been hoarding worth less.

Allen,

I bought 5 of the new red pads from Pachmayr. Mine all have black bleading through on the sides. Do yours have this problem? I'm thinking of sending them back. I'm pretty disappointed in the ones that I received.

I assume they don't have white spacers? It would be nice if they would make 0.8" size too, large & medium, but I'm not complaining, I'll place my order too.

Longbob, I don't see any evidence of black-beading on the pads I have.

That condition might go away when the pad is ground and fit, but then again, it might not. I'd sure send 'em back for exchange if you have any doubts.....

Thanks Chic,
I have a need for one and I'll bet you can guess where it is going! Just got one of TomD's cocking piece sights last Friday...what a little gem of machining that is!

jeff, those sights are very nice. BTW, I got the half round half octagon 9.3X62 installed on a Legacy Mauser. I used a PacNor barrel. I still have to make a quarter rib and install a front sight and a sling swivel stud. Will post a photo next week or so. No next week I have a special tag for bull elk I drew. I'll try to fit it in.
