What with so much time on my hands, like all of us I suppose, I decided to replace the stock on a nice English 20-gauge boxlock I picked up recently by Hodgson, Bury St. Edmunds. Gun had been shortened for a child, then extended but still had a LOP of under 13". I fancied the gun for myself so put a touch of cast-on into it and hope to shoot some pheasants in SD this November.
Sorry about the messy bench.

lee440That is just flat gorgeous! To me, that is just perfect wood, especially the lack of fiddleback. Just beautiful! Lee

NormanConquestVery nice. Just think if you didn't have to stay in, how long would it be before you got around to it?

Never mistake motion for action.

sambarman338Nice wood. You could put a recoil pad on to lengthen the pull but it would be a pity to lose the original end. So, I think that is just the application for a slip-on pad - serves the purpose and gives a little protection along the butt.

I think you misunderstood: I made this stock because the original was too short, having been shortened and extended, but still with a LOP under 13”. This new stock’s LOP is 14 1/2”.

customboltLove the ink lines TT. Wow! Is the wood origin southern (wet climate) black walnut? Armenian thin shell? What?
