Austin HunterNew German Manufactured Mausers
Any experience with Ritterbusch, Johannsen, or Golmatic? Specifically their actions in terms of quality and value.
Do they share any manufacturing? Parts?

ColoradoMattYou might talk to New England Custom Gun. I believe they import and sell the Golmatic actions. For very big money.

I believe, and I may be wrong, that NECG imports Recknagel not Golmatic built by Prechtle. The Golmatic stuff is very nice. They are spendy, but with the drop in the Euro they might just be worth it.

Austin HunterThanks. I did get a quote from Johannsen last year on a barreled action - seemed a bit high, but with the Euro down, might be better.
Does anyone know how the compare to the Satterlee actions? These seem to be a good value and high quality.

I could be wrong as well, but I doubt if Recknagel makes the action they sell. I would almost bet they are Prechtle/Golmatic.

DArcy_Echols_CoYou may want to look at an action made in Germany under the abbreviated letters FZH. The e-mail address is info@fzh-gmbh.de and they have a web site.
I have been told by a number of German Rifle Makers such as Max Ern, Harald Wolf and Philipp Ollendorff that these actions are the best 98's made in Europe. They also make a Left Hand version. They quoted me a 4 week delivery as well. The web site is in German but they will respond in English to any inquiry.
The last time we did the Dollar/Euro conversion the cost was about $4000 US for a complete action set up for a particular caliber.
If the complete action/bolt/magazine is completely polished and has all the bugs worked out I think it is a fair price. I will likely order one of these actions the next time I have the need for a 416 Rigby or Kurz length 98.

Butch SearcyDArcy,
Question, Are the German actions that much better than the Granite Mountain actions. If so how are they better. Just curious.

That's a good question, I guess I won't know unless I order one and find out.

Quite fair if its truly ready to barrel and stock.

Austin HunterInteresting; looks like they make their own actions. maybe they supply some of the other folks in Germany?
I use Chrome for my browser and it has an auto-translate feature, so I see the pages in English. Not a lot of detail besides stating the use 1941 drawings and modern manufacturing techniques. Can offer parts, actionsm barreled actions, take down options, additional barrels, and complete rifles.

mehulkamdarAustin Hunter,
They can make actions with any features you may desire. Yes they do supply their actions to other gunsmiths in Europe - Theo Jung and Dirk Brinkmann have used their actions and I am sure other well reputed gunsmiths have as well. I know that a couple of members on the Nitroexpress Forums have these rifles on order. They may post here after seeing this thread.
Good hunting!

Yes, the actions on
Theo Jung rifles look all so similar to those FZH units.
So you reckon FZH could supply a T/D Kurz barreled action? ...that would be just too good to be true!!!

Austin HunterCool - if anyone has worked with them, please let me know.
I've been looking at a 1926 Oberndorf take-down, but for the money, I might want to spend more and get a modern version.

mehulkamdarTrax,
They do supply actions to Herr Jung. Their catalog which I linked to, has a picture of a Jung rifle with an action built by them. And, from what I understand, they can build any configuration you may desire.
Austin Hunter,
The best person to talk to would be your gunsmith. On the other hand, if you are looking to talk to a gunsmith in Europe, here's a shameless plug for a friend of mine:
Joel Dorleac. I think you can get an honest opinion from him. He uses all of these actions depending upon what his client desires.
Good hunting, gentlemen!

jaegerfrankTheo Jung is indeed using FZH actions. They have a very good reputation but I think all these actions are only outstanding once they get the proper final treatment.
