low mounts
I am working up a .257 Roberts on a M70 action, and plan on using a Leupold 6X36 scope. I'm stuck on trying to find rings and bases that will be as low as possible. I would really like to stay away from Leupolds and other top/bottom split ring designs for aethetics reasons. I like the Talley design, but even the lowest model puts the scope too high. Any ideas out there for other models or custom makers? Has anyone used the Gentry set up?thanks

The Gentry will be lower than the Talleys. Gentrys work fine and are lightweight.

Weavers are lower still.

Conetrols mount very low on the M70.

Ditto the Conetrols.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

I like the Burris super low Z-Rings on a Weaver-type base. These, however, are horizontally split, which may not make your cut.
