Pre 64 M70 375 H&H
Hi Guys, If you had one and the sights were missing what would you replace them with.
The original gun had a soldered front ramp and a flip type rear sight that are both gone and the gun was reblued, the rear sight holes have threaded plugs.
Thanks

Jeez, I just sold the correct rear sight for that, I had it for 15 years, it was up for about 6 weeks and went 10 days ago.

Is it a mint collectable or a used shooter? Makes a lot of difference in how much you want to spend for original sights.
If it is a shooter, I would put NECG sights on it. Classic, but still fairly reasonable.
Note; I now see that it has been reblued so original sights won't help it if you have to pay crazy money for them. . It is forever a shooter....

I have a Lyman 6W lying around somewhere. If you are interested I will shoot you a picture. Sure we could work something out.

dp, the gun is refinished so it is a shooter, very clean gun both inside and out, it will be a hunting gun for me, I am trying to do the minimum amount of work since the blueing is recent and nice, soldering a front ramp or banded sight is not out of the question but a less costly option (screw on ) would work for me if it is also a durable option. I want durable/ bullet proof sights.

Right; the NECG/Recknagel band front and a simple standing rear are both screw on. Or use a screw on front ramp. Or look on eBay for Winchester sights; I find them there all the time; post 64 express type. You have several options.

Side disturbance:

On such a rifle in either
.375 or '06, scoped.

What do you guys feel they're
worth?

And: If scabbed up, flaked off
finish how bad would refinishing
the stock ruin the value to make
it look real nice again?

Thanks,

George
